olivia and joey

please don't drink and drive!

on june 21'st we were rear ended by a drunk driver on our way home from vacation. we were stopped at a red light when we got hit. luckily, there was very little damage to our car, and more importantly no one was hurt! but according to the police report the other driver was almost four times over the legal limit! how scary to think of how badly this could have ended.
where it happened:
the damage to our car:
the damage to the other car:
the driver actually left the scene of the crime and tried to hide across the street. we stayed put and didn't move our vehicle, despite multiple people trying to convince us to. we got a hold of a friend who called the law enforcement desk and they sent out a translator and called the traffic police. when we crossed the street to give the police our statement, the guy who hit us ran back over to his car and tried to start it to leave the scene. luckily, it didn't start and the police got him. also, in the report they said it was 100% the other driver's fault; apparently this is really rare, because they normally automatically give you at least 20% of the blame.

is it july yet?

things i have learned this month:

always have a way to reach people when you are in a foreign country. learn how to dial country codes in case of accidents!

people really really hate change. sometimes even when it's change for the better.

never underestimate the kindness of strangers. and don't overestimate the depth of friendship.

always be careful what you say and how you present yourself. one thing. one wrong move. one bad decision. those are things that can alter the way people think of you forever.

i blog way more when i have nothing to talk about. having real topics feels very overwhelming.

people will totally sing you happy birthday for a discount :)

and lastly, i've always known this, but just as a reminder. life is short. you never know what's just around the corner. be thankful and live big. God has called us for something greater... this is really what matters.
